Designing a Minimal & Modern Logo for a Floral Delivery Service

When Bee My Florist—a new online floral delivery company—approached me, their mission was clear: connect local florists and customers in a more meaningful, trustworthy way.

They wanted a brand identity that felt:

  • modern

  • warm

  • simple

  • professional

  • and relatable, especially to working moms—their core audience

The goal wasn’t just to look pretty. It was to build a logo that communicates connection, reliability, and positive emotion with just a glance.

Brand Concept & Problem-Solving

The original direction for the logo featured a bee symbol composed of interconnected floral petals. Each petal was designed to weave into the next, visually representing:

  • community

  • unity

  • connection between customer and florist

However, during refinement, an issue became clear: the intertwined petal effect made the bee shape harder to recognize, especially at small sizes like mobile apps.

After reviewing options with the client, we made a key decision:

👉 Remove the intertwining details to let the bee icon stand out clearly.

This adjustment immediately improved:

  • legibility

  • memorability

  • scalability

  • aesthetic balance

The final symbol communicates exactly what the brand needed — simplicity, warmth, and a modern, stress-free feel.

Typography & Color Choices

For the wordmark, I selected TT Norms Pro, a premium sans-serif known for its clean geometry and versatility. It’s strong enough for larger branding but also remains crisp on small screens.

To add approach-ability, the logotype uses lowercase lettering, giving the brand a softer, more welcoming personality—perfect for a predominantly female audience.

The color palette was intentionally minimal:

  • Gold/yellow → positivity, happiness, good energy

  • Rich black → professionalism, quality, sophistication

The full palette was delivered to support future app or website design, but the logo itself stays clean with just two colors.

Market Research Results

To validate the design direction, we shared the final concepts with a private test group of nearly a dozen women (ages 35–65). Participants ranged from mid-level professionals to solopreneurs.

Here’s what the feedback confirmed:

  • 100% preferred the final logo over earlier versions

  • Majority said the typeface would catch their eye in an app store or feed

  • Majority found the logo memorable

  • 100% agreed it communicated the brand message clearly

This solidified that the logo didn’t just look good—it worked.

Final Thoughts

I never expected to design a logo for a florist, but this project was a refreshing challenge. The client wanted something minimal, professional, and unlike the countless floral logos already out there.

Choosing to take on that challenge led to one of my favorite branding pieces to date.

I’m especially excited to continue supporting Bee My Florist as they move into the next phase—potential UX/UI design for their mobile app.
